Savannah here! Popping in for a product review that was pretty long in the making!

For my birthday, my lovely fiancé was kind enough to let me order my own custom decoden phone case, and he would pay for whatever I decided to have on it! Isn’t he so sweet? 🙂

I had been planning on ordering a case for quite a while now, and I chose Miaou Chaton to make my case for me! I originally discovered her shop on Instagram and she was by far one of the most original decoden artists that I had seen. Her shop was on Etsy when I first ordered the case but has since moved to her own website! If you are interested in seeing her reviews from Etsy, they are here.

For the sake of being 100% honest and transparent in my review, I will state that the case was priced at $55.50. I ordered it during the Black Friday sale, however, and got it with a 35% off coupon. I ended up paying $40.57 for my case (shipping included). I didn’t anticipate purchasing one of Christian’s cases during a sale, though, so I will also state that I find her original price to be perfectly respectable. Here’s why:

  1. She is one person
  2. She hand-makes the vast majority of her pieces out of polymer clay
  3. She’s a college student
  4. The cost of materials is pretty high if you’re going for quality

Also, her pricing for custom pieces is reasonable as well. My personal touches on the case were the blue and white drizzle on the sides and the ankh cookie. If my memory is correct, the Fruits Galore series was about $45 a case, so the extras ended up totaling to about $10.50. This is all extra work for her so it seemed reasonable to me.

Another important note is that it takes her 6 weeks to make her cases. She states this clearly and delivered my case on time, but it is a very long wait, hence my four-heart rating for that aspect. It is what it is, I’m not upset about it. 🙂

The above photo was intended to show the thickness of the case but my camera was kind of dying/not cooperating so excuse the weird blurring that happened there it’s a long story I don’t want to talk about it.

Regardless, the case is definitely on the thicker side. This is probably why Christian mentions to not attempt to stick it in your pocket since pretty much anything but sweatpants would require more forcing and pushing to get it to fit comfortably, putting unnecessary strain on the case itself. Silicone can only do so much. The case also is just generally bigger to work with, but it’s not heavy or particularly cumbersome in my opinion.

Christian originally forgot to put on the double drizzle, so it’s not done like she normally does it (she applies the drizzle first and then the silicone whip comes after). It still looks very nice, but after just a couple days of normal use, it’s already started to peel away from the case. I am totally aware that this was a mistake and I am not necessarily upset. It did knock off a point for me in quality, though, due to the simple fact that a little over $40 was paid for a case; I expect it to last a bit longer than that, even with a disclaimer to use it for special occasions more than everyday use.

She also included an adorable charm! I’m not sure if this was something she originally intended to include or an apology for the mistake, but I love it either way.

Her packaging was absolutely adorable but it was raining when the package arrived so it got a bit wet. The corner is visible in the above photo, it’s hot pink with her logo on the top. The charm was in the cute baggie and she also included a lollipop! How adorable!

In terms of customer service, I think it was more than adequate considering the sheer number of orders she had around the holidays and sale. She responded to any messages I sent promptly and completed the case in a timely manner. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase and would more than likely come to Miaou Chaton again for decoden cases. 🙂
